The Teatro alla Scala is perhaps the highest temple of opera in the world. It was here that Verdi was launched preferring then this stage to all … “my Scala, my Milano” … used to say in relation to the theater and the city that had adopted him.

In 1839, Oberto, Conte di San Bonifacio, ushered in the era of Giuseppe Verdi and thanks to impresario Merelli, Verdi launched into success with Nabucco.

Maestro left La Scala for twenty years as a result of the resentment among the impresarios at La Scala and the composers, but in 1869, thanks to the family Ricordi, Verdi got back there and celebrated his success with a renewed version of La Forza del Destino, Aida, a new Simone Boccanegra, Don Carlo, Otello and Falstaff.
