A few kilometers away from Sant’Agata, we find the health facility built solely and exclusively due to the financial commitment of Giuseppe Verdi; he conceived and designed the hospital down to the smallest details, after extensive documentation.

Always sensitive to social and humanitarian issues to the poor and to the sick of his town, the Maestro ordered the construction of the hospital especially to avoid his fellow citizens demanding transfers in far Piacenza, which often caused the death of the sick during the 40 miles of journey.

Opened in 1888, it is still used after the construction of a modern pavilion specialized in the care of paralysed people.
